From the very beginning, Zoëcon^® Professional Products was born out of mosquito control. Founded in 1968 by Dr. Carl Djerassi, our team revolutionized insect control by introducing a method that interferes with the development and reproduction of insects. Beginning with (S)-methoprene, and later the discovery of (S)-hydroprene and (S)-kinoprene, these compounds became the building blocks of the comprehensive Zoëcon^® portfolio of insect control solutions.

Our scientists understood that traditional knockdown treatments weren’t enough to control populations long-term. Mosquitoes reproduce quickly, spread disease, and thrive in a range of conditions, making them one of the most resilient public health threats. But (S)-methoprene changed the equation. By mimicking natural insect hormones, this active ingredient prevents mosquito larvae from maturing into biting adults, stopping the problem at the source.

This breakthrough redefined what long-term control could look like and laid the foundation for every innovation that followed. The same scientific insight that drove our early mosquito control efforts now powers an entire portfolio of products designed to meet the evolving needs of pest management professionals across residential, commercial, and public health settings.

Its micro-encapsulated formulation delivers the adulticidal strength of tau-fluvalinate combined with the long-lasting effectiveness of (S)-methoprene, the IGR that started it all.
