Mosquitoes

Mosquitoes spread a wide range of diseases such as malaria, dengue fever, chikungunya virus and encephalitis strains, including West Nile virus. Only the female mosquito bites and feeds on the blood of humans or other animals. After her blood meal, the female lays her eggs in or near areas of stagnant or standing water, such as swamps, pools and puddles. The eggs can survive dry conditions for a few months.
